Superbob 10th Anniversary

Superbob 10TH anniversary screening.

I saw the film about Prince Charles on its initial release. I took a lady. Ten years on, happily married. Well she is,I’m single….

Ahem in the time in-between though I was caught in a crisis of global proportions .I had to find the skills and fortitude to overcome great danger to my family and every Tuesday you the general public would take a day off as I stayed in as a carer and didn’t do a podcast. No need to thank me.

When I first met Bob I found him funny. I worked in comics and comedy and am a South Londoner. It was a nice genre cousin to Attack the Block

Watching it now, living with my aging dad, recovering from grief and wondering what to do now the crisis is over and my powers seem…well redundant really. The film’s charm still hits a nerve that is lacking in cinema, I mean we often get two scenes of tears in heroics but then we sadly internalise and move on.

Bob is not a dramatically wounded man, but he is lost and lacking. The film inhabits him in the real world with a great deal of show not tell. And at its pace has fantastic narrative and visual editing to ensure a sense of both immediacy and intimacy in every frame.

I’m sure your last ten years have been nothing but moonbeams and daydreams but take a leaf out of Bob’s home and visit this jewel as soon as you can
