Anwar. Dir. Fawaz Al-Matrouk

IN a future of an absolute life is a difficult premise. When you’re younger the Peter Pan notion is hard to ignore. As a man of multi fath , my father’s Hindu values with Mums Catholicism lead to a sense of fatalism that would pervade the house but in an ambiguous way rather than a direct faith.Anwar has a similar situation, a father who has passed away , possibly in heaven or a mother who is in the here and now, definitely an absolute. It’s a great meditation on what allows for the future and what soul would exist without finality.

Deepheist.

A,I being the big issue , or not, saving lives in bioscans and taking names in data collection. Deepheist takes these and creates a novel notion of discussing with A.I stylish and heavy on the visual aplomb. It’s a simple story and does not outstay its welcome

Gleise

Filmes in Spain we see a life of simple needs. It’s showing a side of the world that while closer than the states never gets the attention we should. A notion  then comprised the notion of a virtual heaven. It seems to be a revolving concept. But would this silicon heaven seem to be the best plan when we look at the way the world moves on without us. It’s a passionate piece about faith rather than tech. And gives a flavour to the notions that imbues religion without tub thumping it

Happy people

It’s hard to see people happy without you, it’s our ego thinking we are the only ones that can complete them. Really it’s more often our own inadequacy that they salve for a time. Happy people takes this and forces us through the prism of a man who not so much can’t move on but rather then thinks the world should stick to him

Last night

One of the classic jokes is that the make a wish foundation should supply strippers. A young moment of fear and intimacy is brought to an end with passion and dispassionate thinking. Stylishly shot and filled with the sense of urgency and anxiety that will keep you invested throughout

What happens on earth

Lads lads lads, i spent nights with a mate in escotoralee in a tesco car park. Colchester was alien at times. I woke up and looked out the pub window and went oh its the milk man. It’s a hard thing to think of in those pre uber hours of no transport and wet lungs. Watching it play out with the levels of snot and drugs is a 90s fashion that’s worth visiting again , if only for the charms. Its warming like a half drunk beer found at the end of the bed, and equally golden

Park Assist.

Part band dessiness all slapstick timing. The comic nature of the style and timing and human failings are here in a world of automated systems. You can never deny the plucky heart of this short.
