We went onto the weekly shop and were on the shielding list. We have never been back. Soon after I tried shopping, it was this film in my head. The few weeks before crying over a fucking broken pack of baby wipes and the sheer fucking shock and anxiety means this is what I fucking saw. I have been back since. Just to get bits after work. I got mutters if I’m even to be in this country one week while blokes picked fights, not over beans. Still, over having jobs, it’s dense and viscous out there, and this film encapsulates how people seem to swim to the unreality of consumerism in the shadow of Innsmouth. It’s worth watching and lasts less than five minutes. Utter bargain

Fish out of water, Alexandra Boulton.

Survivors’ guilt, familial guilt, sibling rivalry—all blend in this parable of dark absurdity. It’s hard not to see the range within our fish carer and how their dreams of swimming along clash with a life of duty in a bowl. It’s funny, absurd, and melancholy in all the right ways for a tragedy. And I don’t feel anything other than enjoyment would be a cod response. Come on!
